12 January 2001 - Olympic Games Sydney: Holland 2016?
At the New Year's Borrel - kindly sponsored by VOPAK - Mr J.P. Prins of Holland Business House enlightened the audience with his oration on the Sydney Olympics 2000.

12 February 2001 - Hydrocarbon Energy: How long will it last ?
A presentation held by Mr Willem van den Berg of Atracon Pte Ltd who shared his expertise about the topic of hydrocarbon energy and explained about the developments in the Asian energy market.

22 February 2001 - INSEAD breakfast session
The Dean of INSEAD, Professor Arnoud de Meyer, kindly invited all members to the new campus. Mr De Meyer spoke about innovation, Singapore and the knowledge economy followed by a discussion.

12 March 2001 - An Exploratory Enquiry Into the Competitive Strategies of Overseas Chinese Business Firms
Mr Frits de Voet, who recently completed a PhD research project with the Graduate School of Management of the University of Queensland, examined overseas Chinese business performance from a strategic management perspective. His presentation gave an insight into the "secret" world of Chinese business.

9 April 2001 - AGM at Asia Pacific Breweries
The ADB's Annual General Meeting took place in the "home of Tiger Beer". After the closing of the meeting, a tour of the brewery's facilities was given, providing the members with a detailed insight in the process steps required to make a great beer.

14 May 2001 - Lessons from Aviation Alliances
Mr Gerard de Wit, Managing Director for Alliance Strategies in Transport (CAST) gave an interesting and informative lecture about Alliances in the airline industry drawing from his own experiences.

31 May 2001 - Lunch at Reuters
Mr Jan Coos Geesink, Managing Director of Reuters Asia Pacific kindly hosted a Tour and Lunch for ADB members. The members had a look behind the screens and tried out demos of Reuters' information products.

Monday 11 June 2001 - Image Damage and Image Recovery
Mr Charles Schwietert, Executive Director of the Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok,  gave a presentation on the topic of "Image Damage and Image Recovery". He vividly illustrated the topic with examples from his past experiences as a TV journalist, Secretary of State and consultant to captains of industry. 

Monday 9 July 2001 - A Global and Regional View on Private Banking
Led by Mr. Hans Yntema, Global Head Private Banking, three speakers of ING introduced the members to the world of private banking through a business case of ING Regional Private Banking. In addition, they shared their views on Global Investment and wealth management products.  Mr Yntema gave an update about the ING Group from the strategic perspective.

Monday 13 August 2001 - Doing Business in Vietnam: The Rise and Fall of an Asian Tiger cub
Mr. Toon Santen, Managing Director Intergrafica Print & Pack Singapore Pte Ltd (Ferrostaal AG) shared his experiences while living and working in Vietnam. He gave an insight into the practice of doing business with retailers, foreign companies and the Vietnamese government.

Monday 10 September 2001 - Biomedical Sciences: Driving New Growth in Singapore
Professor Louis Lim, the Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Council, sketched a colorful and entertaining picture of the world of biomedical sciences. He also laid out the framework and achievements thus far to encourage investments in private sector biomedical research and development activities in Singapore.

Monday 8 October 2001 - Legal aspects of Joint Venturing in the Asian Region
Mrs. Marie-Anne Birken spoke about the legal requirements for establishing joint ventures in Asia, in particular China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. She also gave some practical tips on how to ensure their success in Asia. Marie-Anne is a partner in the international law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and she has spent the last 6 and a half years in Asia.

12 November 2001 - Asia's Economic Outlook: Business Risks and Opportunities
A large crowd of Dutch businessmen and women turned out to attend a talk by Mr Christopher Nailer, Director of Advisory Services, The Economist Corporate Network. Mr Nailer presented his views on the status and outlook for the Asian economies backed by the latest facts and figures.

10 December 2001- Company visit to Philips Domestic Appliances
About 30 members joined a tour through the Philips Domestic Appliances Plant in Jurong. It was a remarkably informative and extremely well organized company visit during which General Manager Andre Krebbers opened for many the previously unknown world of irons and hair dryers. The tour also included visits to the R&D Innovation Center and Consumer Test Center.
